⚠️ Read this before you start

Makeup and beauty mishaps are real. Your eyes, skin, and hair are not a car door — the damage is often permanent.

  • Patch test 24 hours first. Put any new product on a small patch of skin (inner arm) a day before it goes near your face. Cosmetic allergies are common and can be severe.
  • Nothing goes IN your eye. Scratched corneas from mascara wands and liner pencils are the most common makeup injury. Never use a product near your eye that is not sold for the eye area.
  • Lash and wig adhesive only. Never super glue, nail glue, or any household adhesive on skin, lashes, or scalp. These cause chemical burns and have sealed eyes shut.
  • No product substitutes. Hair spray, spray adhesive, and construction glue are not cosmetics. People have been hospitalized following internet beauty hacks.
  • Sharp tools cut and infect. Dermaplaning blades, cuticle nippers, and tweezers need clean hands and clean tools. Do not share them.
  • Chemicals burn. Dye, bleach, relaxers, peels, and removers: follow the manufacturer’s timing exactly, ventilate the room, and never mix two products.
  • Old and shared makeup carries bacteria. Do not share eye or lip products, and replace mascara every three months.
  • If it stings, burns, swells, or your vision changes — stop. Rinse with cool water and get medical help. Do not push through it.

โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Prep Natural Hair and Cleanse Forehead

Braid natural hair into flat, neat cornrows going straight back, or slick short hair tightly down. Saturate a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol and thoroughly wipe the forehead along the hairline to remove all natural oils and makeup.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Hair lies flat across the crown and nape with minimal bulk.
  • โ€ข Forehead skin along the hairline has a clean, matte finish without oil sheen.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Skipping the alcohol wipe, causing adhesive failure due to facial oils.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Avoid getting rubbing alcohol in the eyes or on broken skin.
2

Install and Cut the Bald Cap

Pull the stocking cap down over your eyebrows and ears. Spray a layer of holding spray along the front hairline of the cap, then blow dry on cool until completely clear and dry to the touch. Use scissors to carefully cut off the excess cap fabric right along the glued hairline.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Cap edge adheres seamlessly to the skin just in front of natural hair.
  • โ€ข Excess cap fabric in front of the glued line is completely trimmed away.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Cutting into the natural hair while trimming the cap edge.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Angle scissor tips slightly upward away from your forehead skin while cutting.
3

Tint the Lace and Match Cap

Turn the wig inside out to expose the lace grid. Dust your matching powder foundation across the lace using a makeup brush, concentrating on the hairline and parting area. Lightly dust the same powder over the bald cap on your head.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace mesh matches your skin tone rather than looking gray, white, or ashy.
  • โ€ข Bald cap on forehead blends seamlessly into natural face complexion.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Using a powder that is too light or heavily orange-toned for your skin.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Avoid inhaling loose powder particles during application.
4

Position Wig and Apply Adhesive

Place the wig on your head and adjust so the lace hairline sits roughly 1/8 inch in front of the bald cap edge. Flip the lace back and apply a thin, even layer of holding spray or lace adhesive onto the skin. Blow dry on cool until the product turns clear and tacky.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Adhesive layer transforms from milky white to completely clear.
  • โ€ข Adhesive feels sticky/tacky without transferring onto a clean fingertip.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Laying the lace down while the glue is still wet and white.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Keep adhesive strictly on forehead skin and off natural eyebrow or hairline hairs.
5

Press, Melt, and Band the Lace

Pull the lace forward onto the tacky adhesive and press it firmly into the skin using the fine teeth of a rat-tail comb. Immediately wrap an elastic melting band tightly over the entire hairline. Leave the band on for 10 to 15 minutes to melt the lace into the skin.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace lies completely flat against skin with no lifted borders or bubbles.
  • โ€ข Melting band is firmly secured across the entire perimeter of the hairline.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Pressing the lace with fingers, transferring skin oils and causing lifting.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Do not tighten the elastic band so much that it causes scalp pain or cuts off circulation.
6

Trim Excess Lace and Finalize Styling

Remove the melting band and use small curved scissors to cut the excess lace along the hairline using small zig-zag motions. Use a hot comb to flatten the roots going backward, then use an edge brush with a touch of mousse to style baby hairs if desired.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace border is cut in an irregular, natural zig-zag pattern undetectable from 2 feet away.
  • โ€ข Roots at the top of the wig are flat and sleek without poofiness.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Cutting the lace in a straight, blunt line which creates a noticeable wig demarcation.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Keep the hot comb guard facing your scalp to prevent thermal burns.
