Makeup and beauty mishaps are real. Your eyes, skin, and hair are not a car door — the damage is often permanent.
- • Patch test 24 hours first. Put any new product on a small patch of skin (inner arm) a day before it goes near your face. Cosmetic allergies are common and can be severe.
- • Nothing goes IN your eye. Scratched corneas from mascara wands and liner pencils are the most common makeup injury. Never use a product near your eye that is not sold for the eye area.
- • Lash and wig adhesive only. Never super glue, nail glue, or any household adhesive on skin, lashes, or scalp. These cause chemical burns and have sealed eyes shut.
- • No product substitutes. Hair spray, spray adhesive, and construction glue are not cosmetics. People have been hospitalized following internet beauty hacks.
- • Sharp tools cut and infect. Dermaplaning blades, cuticle nippers, and tweezers need clean hands and clean tools. Do not share them.
- • Chemicals burn. Dye, bleach, relaxers, peels, and removers: follow the manufacturer’s timing exactly, ventilate the room, and never mix two products.
- • Old and shared makeup carries bacteria. Do not share eye or lip products, and replace mascara every three months.
- • If it stings, burns, swells, or your vision changes — stop. Rinse with cool water and get medical help. Do not push through it.

โ ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings
- โข Perform a 24-hour patch test with the lace adhesive on your inner forearm before applying to the forehead.
- โข Always apply glue or holding spray on bare skin at least 1 cm in front of the natural hairline to prevent hair loss.
- โข Keep eyebrow razors angled parallel to the skin and away from the eyes when trimming lace.
๐ Step-by-Step Guide (7 Steps)
Prep Hair and Clean Hairline
Braid natural hair flat going straight back or slick into a low, flat bun. Wipe the entire perimeter of your forehead and temples with an alcohol pad to remove all natural oils and makeup residue.
- โข Natural hair sits completely flat against the skull without high bumps
- โข Forehead skin along the hairline is matte and free of shine or foundation
- โข Leaving residual face oils or makeup on the forehead where glue will sit
- โข Bulky braids at the crown that distort the wig shape
Apply and Tint the Wig Cap
Pull the stocking cap down past your eyebrows and over your ears. Lightly dab foundation matching your exact forehead skin tone across the front half of the cap using a makeup sponge.
- โข Wig cap is pulled tight and smooth over the forehead
- โข Cap color seamlessly matches the adjacent forehead skin tone
- โข Using a cap shade that is too pale or ashy for your skin tone
- โข Leaving the cap loose around the hairline perimeter
Melt and Trim the Wig Cap
Spray or brush a thin layer of holding spray or lace adhesive along the front edge of the cap, staying right below your natural hairline. Blow-dry on cool until completely clear and tacky, then trim the excess cap close to the glued edge using small scissors.
- โข Glued cap edge is completely transparent with no white film
- โข Excess cap fabric in front of the glued line is completely removed
- โข Cutting into your real hair while trimming the excess cap
- โข Trimming the cap before the adhesive has fully dried clear
Position and Test-Fit the Wig
Place the wig onto your head from front to back, aligning the lace edge roughly half a centimeter ahead of the glued cap border. Adjust the internal wig straps at the nape so the unit sits secure without sliding.
- โข Wig ear tabs align symmetrically just in front of your natural ears
- โข Frontal lace rests flat against the forehead without bunching or stretching
- โข Setting the wig too far forward, creating an unnaturally small forehead
- โข Placing the lace directly onto real hair instead of bare skin/cap
Apply Adhesive Along the Hairline
Flip the lace backward to expose the prepped hairline area. Apply a thin, even layer of lace adhesive or holding spray 1-2 mm in front of the wig cap edge and blow dry on cool until it transitions from white to clear and tacky.
- โข Adhesive layer is entirely transparent with zero white or milky areas
- โข Adhesive surface is tacky to the touch without transferring liquid
- โข Applying the wig while the glue is still white and liquid
- โข Applying a thick, goopy layer that dries unevenly
Lay Lace and Band Melt
Pull the lace forward onto the tacky adhesive and press down firmly using the fine teeth of a rat-tail comb. Immediately wrap an elastic melt band tightly over the lace perimeter and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.
- โข Lace is pressed flat into the skin with no lifting flaps
- โข Melt band wraps snugly across the entire glued hairline
- โข Pressing the lace down using bare oily fingers instead of a clean comb
- โข Removing the melt band before the adhesive has fully cured
Cut Excess Lace and Define Hairline
Remove the melt band and trim the excess overhanging lace using an eyebrow razor in gentle zig-zag motions along the hairline. Smooth flyaways and flatten the crown by running a hot comb through wax-stick-prepped roots in upward and backward strokes.
- โข Lace border is invisible against the forehead skin
- โข Hair roots at the top of the wig lie completely flat with no cone shape
- โข Cutting lace in a straight, blunt line which creates an obvious wig edge
- โข Touching the hot comb directly to the lace or bare forehead
