Makeup and beauty mishaps are real. Your eyes, skin, and hair are not a car door — the damage is often permanent.

  • Patch test 24 hours first. Put any new product on a small patch of skin (inner arm) a day before it goes near your face. Cosmetic allergies are common and can be severe.
  • Nothing goes IN your eye. Scratched corneas from mascara wands and liner pencils are the most common makeup injury. Never use a product near your eye that is not sold for the eye area.
  • Lash and wig adhesive only. Never super glue, nail glue, or any household adhesive on skin, lashes, or scalp. These cause chemical burns and have sealed eyes shut.
  • No product substitutes. Hair spray, spray adhesive, and construction glue are not cosmetics. People have been hospitalized following internet beauty hacks.
  • Sharp tools cut and infect. Dermaplaning blades, cuticle nippers, and tweezers need clean hands and clean tools. Do not share them.
  • Chemicals burn. Dye, bleach, relaxers, peels, and removers: follow the manufacturer’s timing exactly, ventilate the room, and never mix two products.
  • Old and shared makeup carries bacteria. Do not share eye or lip products, and replace mascara every three months.
  • If it stings, burns, swells, or your vision changes — stop. Rinse with cool water and get medical help. Do not push through it.

โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (7 Steps)

1

Clean Skin and Prep Natural Hair

Braid natural hair into small, flat cornrows straight back or slick hair into a low, flat bun. Wipe forehead and hairline thoroughly with a cotton pad soaked in isopropyl alcohol to strip away all skin oils, makeup, and residue.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Natural hair is completely flat against the skull with no high bulges.
  • โ€ข Forehead skin along the hairline is matte and clean with no shine.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaving body oils or makeup along the forehead hairline.
  • โ€ข Making cornrows too thick, resulting in a lumpy wig base.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Keep alcohol away from the eyes and mucous membranes.
2

Apply and Tint the Bald Cap

Pull the nude stocking cap down over your ears and eyebrows. Apply a thin layer of holding spray or glue along the hairline right above the eyebrows, dry with a blow dryer on cool until clear, and cut off the excess cap just below the glued line using shears. Dab matching foundation onto the remaining cap edge until it blends with your skin.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Cap edge is completely flat, seamless, and matches your exact skin tone.
  • โ€ข Cap sits securely without lifting when lightly brushed.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Cutting the cap too far back and exposing natural hair edges.
  • โ€ข Using a foundation shade that is too light or ashy for your undertone.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Keep sharp scissor tips pointing upward and away from the facial skin while cutting the cap.
3

Position and Section the Wig

Place the wig on your head, adjusting the lace so it sits roughly 1/8 inch in front of your natural hairline. Use alligator clips to pull all wig hair back tightly away from the front lace perimeter, keeping loose strands out of the work area.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Wig perimeter aligns evenly with temple peaks and ears.
  • โ€ข Zero stray wig hairs hanging across the forehead or lace perimeter.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Placing the wig too far forward on the forehead or directly on top of real edges.
  • โ€ข Leaving loose hairs near the adhesive zone.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Do not pull clips so tightly that they stress fragile edge hair.
4

Apply Adhesive in Thin Layers

Apply a very thin, even layer of lace adhesive or holding spray across the forehead just below the cap edge, working from ear to ear. Use the back of a rat-tail comb to spread it flat and transparent. Allow it to air dry or blow dry on cool until it turns completely clear and tacky to the touch.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Adhesive has transitioned from white/opaque to completely clear and glossy.
  • โ€ข Glue feels sticky when lightly tapped with a gloved finger, leaving no liquid transfer.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Applying the glue too thick, which traps white moisture underneath.
  • โ€ข Pressing the lace down while the glue is still wet and white.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure adequate room ventilation when working with solvent- or latex-based adhesives.
5

Lay and Press the Lace

Unfold the lace and gently lay it forward onto the tacky adhesive from the center outward to the sides. Use the fine teeth of a rat-tail comb to firmly press the lace grid into the glue, following with cool air from your blow dryer.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace holes disappear into the skin without white residue bleeding through.
  • โ€ข Lace lies completely flush against the skin with zero lifting.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Pressing lace with bare fingers, which transfers finger oils and causes white spots.
  • โ€ข Pulling and stretching the lace unevenly, warping the frontal shape.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Avoid pressing the sharp comb tail too hard into sensitive temple areas.
6

Trim Excess Lace and Melt

Trim off the remaining excess lace along the hairline using an eyebrow razor or small shears in tiny, jagged zig-zag motions rather than a straight line. Tie an elastic melting band firmly around the hairline perimeter and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes to fuse the lace into the adhesive.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace edge is cut close to the hairline with jagged, organic edges.
  • โ€ข Elastic band is wrapped snugly across the entire glued frontal zone.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Cutting the lace in a blunt, straight line, which makes the wig edge obvious.
  • โ€ข Cutting too close to the roots and cutting off the wig's knot structure.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Angle the razor blade away from your face and move in short, controlled downward strokes.
7

Style Hairline and Parting

Remove the melting band to reveal the melted lace. Define your desired part with a rat-tail comb, apply a lightweight mousse along the top, and flatten the crown using a hot comb or blow dryer. Lightly sweep baby hairs along the temples with an edge brush if desired.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Lace is completely invisible against the skin even under direct light.
  • โ€ข Parting line is straight, scalp-toned, and laying perfectly flat.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Using excessive heavy edge control that turns the melted lace white or greasy.
  • โ€ข Leaving the top of the wig puffy and round rather than flat.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: If using an electric hot comb, never touch the metal barrel to the bare forehead or lace edge.
